September Malt of The Month: Gambinus Pale Malt

This plump 2-row European-style pale ale malt is the base for all beers, and is processed from premium Canadian 2-row barley. Gambrinus Pale Malt is known for its fresh barley and bready character with background notes of biscuit, grain, honey, and hints of nutty and green tea flavor. Use for styles where a rich malt flavor can be shown off, or where a strong malt backbone is needed to balance other strong flavors – IPA, pale ale, brown ale, golden ale, or Scottish and Belgian ales.

September Bottle Share

September 14th, 7:15 PM at Gnome Brew

Join us for our monthly bottle share at the shop. Just bring a couple bottles of your homebrewed beer, cider, wine, mead, or whatever to share with others. If you're new to homebrewing or just don't have any spare bottles, don't worry—you're welcome to come.

Bottle shares are a great opportunity to try others' homebrews, get feedback on your own homebrew, and trade tips, tricks and stories. But mostly, it's a time to hang out and have fun with fellow beer lovers.

This is a free event. No registration required.

On Tap At Gnome Brew

Hop Sampler: Great Lakes Gemini (6% ABV)

Gemini is one of seven proprietary hops bred by Great Lakes Hops and grown in Michigan available at Gnome Brew.  They are a good choice to try in place of Mosaic hops, and they also have some grape and blueberry notes. Gemini hops have notes of blueberry, grape, citrus and melon, particularly honeydew. Gemini hops are a versatile hop that can be used in a variety of beer styles but we would particularly recommend them in pale ales and wheat beers.

Cold IPA (6.4% ABV)

Our new favorite house IPA recipe.  We use a combination of Weyermann Eraclea Pilsner Malt and flaked rice, fermented at a cool 60˚ with OYL-106 German Lager yeast. This yields a clean and highly drinkable canvas allowing the vibrant flavors of West Coast Style hopping to shine through brilliantly.

Simply Brewing® Blackberry Hard Seltzer (4.9% ABV)

Our incredibly easy to make Simply Brewing® Hard Seltzer kit creates a crisp and refreshing base seltzer.
