Simpsons Golden Promise
20% Off Bulk and Sacks All September
Simpsons Finest Pale Ale Golden Promise™, crafted from the renowned spring barley variety, stands as a beloved classic in the UK. Considered historically as the Scottish equivalent to English Maris Otter malts, Golden Promise™ finds versatile application in both English and Scottish style ales. Its distinctive sweet, robust malt flavor has also positioned it as a preferred base malt for crafting American IPAs, lagers, and even finding its way into the production of several renowned whiskeys.
Originating in the UK during the 1960s, Golden Promise™ continues to uphold its esteemed reputation among barley varieties, cherished for its exceptional brewing and distilling qualities. Despite the emergence of newer barley variants, breweries, including long-standing ones like Timothy Taylor’s, have maintained a steadfast preference for Golden Promise™ for decades.
Primarily cultivated in eastern Scotland, Golden Promise™ does pose challenges due to its susceptibility to diseases and lower yields compared to more modern varieties. However, its superior quality and continuous demand have ensured its steadfast presence in cultivation.

Our Monthly Bottle Share At Gnome Brew
Join us for our monthly bottle share at the shop. Just bring a couple bottles of your homebrewed beer, cider, wine, mead, or whatever to share with others. If you're new to homebrewing or just don't have any spare bottles, don't worry—you're welcome to come.
Bottle shares are a great opportunity to try others' homebrews, get feedback on your own homebrew, and trade tips, tricks and stories. But mostly, it's a time to hang out and have fun with fellow beer lovers.
This is a free event. No registration required.

Try A Wine Kit! Heritage Estates Sauvignon Blanc (6.5 % ABV)
A refreshing, medium-bodied, dry Sauvignon Blanc style wine with crisp, green apple flavors and pleasant herbal notes. Unoaked. Each kit contains everything you need to make 6 gallons of your very own craft wine in as little as four weeks.
Hop Sampler: Vista (6.6% ABV)
A recent product of the USDA’s hop breeding program, Vista was developed for punchy ripe tropical fruit and peach aromas. This iteration of the Hop Sampler showcases super bright fruit character without any of the dank character that can come through in Citra, Simcoe, or Mosaic.
Our Hop Sampler is a single hop Pale Ale brewed with 2-Row, White Wheat and Bonlander Munich, bittered with CTZ Hop Extract, and finished with a hop-stand and dry hop addition of the featured hop.
Golden Promise IPA + (6.5% ABV)
Golden Promise provides a slightly more interesting, soft malty canvas than your typical IPA, while still allowing the hops to burst through. The soft bready of Golden Promise along with Simpsons caramalt turns the Citra, Centennial and Mosiac expression into candied orange, lemon and berries.
Red X Lager (5.1 % ABV)
This amber lager was built to highlight the beautiful Best Malz RedX malt, which can be used as a base malt in amber and dark lager and provides a rich malt character of bread crust with hints of toffee.
