SafAle US-05 is an American ale brewer’s yeast that produces neutral, well-balanced ales with a clean and crisp profile. It is known for good attenuation, a relatively dry finish, and firm foam with good head retention. The yeast stays in suspension long enough for a healthy fermentation, then drops bright with proper conditioning.
This strain is ideal for many American beer types and highly hopped beers, including American Pale Ales, IPAs, Porters, Stouts, Ambers, and Brown Ales. Its neutral profile allows both hops and malt to shine without adding strong esters of its own, making it a dependable “house yeast” for many brewers.
Use one 11.5 g packet for a typical 5-gallon batch, rehydrating or pitching directly according to Fermentis guidelines. For best results, aerate your wort appropriately and ferment in the recommended temperature range.
