Berliner Weisse - 3 Hour Recipe Kit

Berliner Weisse is a sour wheat beer that originated in Berlin, Germany. It is typically low in alcohol (3-4%) and high in carbonation. It has a tart, refreshing flavor with a hint of fruitiness. It is a popular summer beer in Germany and is becoming increasingly popular in the United States. This kit utilizes Wildbrew Philly Sour Yeast*, which produces lactic acid during alcoholic fermentation.

*Due to the nature of this particular yeast strain, there may be an extended lag phase at the start of fermentation. Please allow at least 3 weeks after pitching for fermentation to complete.

The brew process involves dissolving malt extract into heated water, steeping bags of milled grain (if applicable), boiling and/or steeping bags of hop pellets, and cooling the wort (unfermented beer) in a sink to be added to your fermentation vessel. The wort is then topped off with chilled water for an even faster cool, and the yeast is added. All this including cleanup takes just 3 hours!
