Rahr North Star Pils has been specially handled to ensure a very light color and a simple mash schedule. It will contribute a pale golden color to a wort. North Star Pils tends toward more honey and sweet bread flavor with underlying notes of hay rather than grainy and crackery. Plus its high diastatic power makes it an ideal base malt for almost any recipe.

A base malt to set your compass by! Rahr North Star Pils™ is crafted to meet the requirements of brewers looking for a domestic pilsner malt with low color and low modification. It is malted to a target of 38-40° Kolbach to facilitate smooth lautering with any mash regimen.  

North Star Pils™ brings overtones of honey and sweet bread with supporting flavor and aroma notes of hay and nutty character. Suitable for any beer style, but particularly craft brewed versions of classic lager styles.

How is this different from Rahr Premium Pils?

Compared to Rahr Premium Pilsner, North Star Pils™ is a bit lower in both color and modification; in terms of sensory, North Star Pils™ has more “sweet” attributes vs. the more grainy & cracker attributes found in Rahr Premium Pils.
