Briess Crystal Red is a heavily roasted crystallized malt. It allows brewers to make color adjustments with a small usage rate, minimizing impact on flavor. At smaller quantities Crystal Red will add deep red color with burnt sugar flavor notes, and in larger quantities it will lend reddish-brown cola hues and intense caramel flavor with prune and raisin notes. Along with flavor and color contributions, Crystal Red will improve head retention and mouthfeel.
