A more heavily kilned base malt, Munich Type 1 is ideal for recipes that call for more sweetness and deeper color. Used alone as a base malt it will produce a golden amber wort with a rich sweet flavor with hints of honey and caramel. Munich Type 1 is a great base malt for more malt-forward German styles. For even more caramel character and richer color, we recommend Munich Type 2.
