November was a great month at Gnome Brew with lots of fun events and beer shared with our Gnome Brew friends. While we'll still have our bottle share this month, we're taking December off from hosting special events.
Come out for our monthly bottle share on Thursday, December 12 at 7:15 PM. We had a great turnout last month, lots of fun, and lots of great beer!
Just bring a couple bottles of your homebrewed beer, cider, wine, mead, or whatever to share with others. If you're new to homebrewing or just don't have any spare bottles, don't worry—you're welcome to come.
Bottle shares are a great opporunity to try others' homebrews, get feedback on your own homebrew, and trade tips, tricks and stories. But mostly, it's a time to hang out and have fun with fellow beer lovers.
This is a free event.
Winterbrew registration is open. This is a BJCP sanctioned competition and the winner gets their beer brewed up by Empirical Brewery. Registration and bottle drop ends December 27.
Square Kegs Homebrew Club is also looking for volunteers and judges. It's a fun time helping out and you get some free food and beer from Empirical Brewery.
You can drop off your entries at Gnome Brew.
We're continuing our Hop Sampler Series—an exploration of single hop beers, all with the same base recipe. We’ve dedicated a tap handle to always have a hop sampler pouring.
Idaho 7 is a very new hop first released in 2015, but it is quickly making its way into craft beers everywhere. It has a complex and powerful aroma and flavor, packed with ripe tropical fruit, citrus (particularly orange), pine and black tea. Best used in late additions and dry hops, Idaho 7 is complex enough to drive any pale ale or IPA but would work well in a blend with Citra, Mosaic, Amarillo, or any New Zealand hop. It probably is too assertive to be used in any delicate beers.
Come in and try it for yourself!
We're up to 57 unique varities of hops and 78 malts and grains! We'll keep adding more ingredients so you can perfect your favorite recipe or build a new one.
More fruity New Zealand hops for your Juicy IPAs and "classic" IPAs
A great mid-color caramel malt great for porters, stouts, browns and more. We now have 7 Simpsons crystal malts in stock.
